We like to include in our top 10 also Argostoli as we think the capital of Kefalonia island is worth visiting during your holidays. Argostoli is today a nice and clean seaside town, even if during 1953 was highly damaged by the big earthquake that has struck down Kefalonia and other Ionian islands.













Municipality of Argostoli has been able to build again several buildings keeping the neoclassical style and following the cultural and historical tradition of Kefalonia. The city is developed around Koutavos lagoon and the “Lithostroto”, the principal pedestrian street, will invite you to browse through so many different local shops and to enjoy the local life.
All Kefalonia, but especially Argostoli, has always tried to preserve the cultural tradition of the island and inside the town you can find a great example of this. You can visit Korgialenios library (one of the largest in Greece) with its marvelous Bizanthyne icons, the historical museum of Kefalonia and the archeological museum with objects of the Mycenaean period.
Visiting Argostoli town you also can’t miss to see the area of Agii Theodori (from the homonymous church of saint Theodori) with the perfect reconstruction of the original lighthouse of Aghion Theodoron.
This place is really evocative especially at the sunset.
In this page we would also like to mention the natural phenomenon of the Katavotres and the tourist area of Lassi.
In the small promontory of Agii Theodory, the Katavothres consist on a natural depression of the ground where the water of the sea disappear under the earth and reappear after 27 days in Melissani lake, in the opposite part of the island.

Lassi is a seafront tourist area, just 3 km far from the center of Argostoli.
Lassi with the traditional Greek restaurants, the pub with live sport events and the marvelous beaches of Makris Yialos and Platis Yialos is the perfect place to swim and relax near Argostoli.
Lassi is also a perfect place where to book an accommodation as, for its strategic position, gives the opportunity to organize excursions to every part of Kefalonia and is very convenient if toy want to visit the town.
